Artane Year 1 Band

for 4th Class Primary School Children
 In the Artane Year 1 band, the foundations are laid for
a life-long relationship with music.  

Band Fee:​​​ €1,020.00 per annum
                Fees can be paid in full or for ease of payment,                    
or in 12 monthly equal installments of  €85.00.
Fees include: hire of instrument, twice weekly band
rehearsals, instrumental group tuition and
two summer camps.
         
Band Instrument Assessment Day
is Monday 31st August 2026 from 5.00pm - 6.00pm/6.30pm. 
Children are assessed by a team of professional musicians
and assigned an instrument to which they are best suited.

Woodwind Instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone
Brass Instruments: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone,
Euphonium, Tuba
Percussion: Drums


 Full Band Rehearsal Days/Times
Monday 4:30pm - 5:30pm
     Thursday 4:30pm - 6.00pm

Instrument Tuition Group Classes
               Days and Times (To be confirmed)              
    (30-45 minute lesson weekly)

 

Summer Camps
2 x summer camps during July and August 

Children will have a number of opportunities
to perform throughout the year

Artane Junior Band
for 5th & 6th Class Primary School Children
The Artane Junior Band is the next step in the progression
of the Artane Band program where students learn more
technical
aspects of their instrument and ensemble playing 

           Band Fee:​​​ €1,020.00 per annum               
             Fees can be paid in full or for ease of payment,              
or in 12 monthly equal installments of  €85.00.
Fees include: hire of instrument, twice weekly
band rehearsals instrumental group tuition and
two summer camps.

Dara Pender

Artane Year 1 & Junior Band Conductor

Dara Pender is from Dublin and holds a Bachelor in Music Education from Trinity College Dublin and a Bachelor of Arts (Music) from the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. She is currently the Year 1 and Junior Band Tutor and Conductor in Artane. Previously she was the Conductor of HFC concert band in Wexford, the deputy conductor of Dublin Orchestral Players Musical Director and Conductor in Portarlington. Dara studied French Horn with Ian Dakin, Fergus O’Carroll and Cormac Ó hAodáin. She has played in many ensembles over the years such as the DIT Symphony Orchestra, DIT Wind Band, RIAM Symphony Orchestra, RIAM Symphonic Wind, Wexford Sinfonia, Greystones Orchestra, Hibernian Orchestra, Dublin Symphony Orchestra, Dublin City Chamber Orchestra, Dublin Concert Band, St James Band and she has played at many Musicals and the Late Late Show band when required. Daras interest for conducting began in college but she didn’t pursue it until later. She completed an advanced wind band conduction workshop in RIAM with Brendan Breslin, with his encouragement and mentorship her passion grew. Dara was chosen as a participant in the London Conducting workshop with John Farrer and Howard Williams. Dara was also chosen as a participant for the Female Conducting Programme in the National Concert Hall, Dublin. Here she completed many intensive workshops with Alice Farnham, Course Director, David Brophy, Robert Houlihan and Eímear Noone. Dara had the opportunity to conduct the National Symphony Orchestra.
